Our British Transport Police Engraved sign and Text ‘FORCE CONTROL ROOM’ features in the British Transport Police Video click here to view. The Engraved Plaque is made from Brushed Stainless Steel and engraved and inkfilled with the colours of the design. The edges are folded to create a distinctive 3D Plaque that is set away from the wall on raised fittings to create a ‘shadow’ on the wall.
The text is the same built up 3D Stainless Steel letters individually fitted to the wall to set them away on raised fittings. As you will see in the video the sign has been up for a number of years and was unveiled by Boris Johnson the Mayor of London. Its always exhilarating making and installing signs and on this install the hub of the Transport Police in Central London was as thrilling as it gets.
We have fitted signs for the Serious Fraud office, the Main Government Sign, The Intellectual Property Office RUSI, and Horseguards Parade London. We had the privelege of parking actually inside Horseguards parade.
Many tourists take pictures of the guards. The two guards walked out to attention as we entered in our vehicle and did the same on our leaving. exciting and honouring for signmakers who returned there to paint the name of a Major on the honours board in gold leaf on the board. When we fitted the main Government Sign in 1 Victoria Street London, we also parked in side the building at the front ‘where you’ve parked, that’s where Sir Alan Sugar Parks’ We were told on arriving. We didn’t need to move our car as we were on official business delivering the signs. we fitted the 2 main internal signs and main external sign seen below. Apparently 3 naked women had stuck themselves to the sign with super glue previously on a campaign to protest. The sign was covered in a laminate and you could see feint marks where the naked women had attached themselves onto the sign. We had the privilege to peel the laminate off the exterior main government sign which had the feint marks of the remnants of super glue.
To us the signs are functional, weatherproof identity signage. to those three women, the signs represented the government. Somewhere on the way from our manufacturing base to the installation of the Main Government signs, Our stainless steel and vinyl decals became more than their sum parts and transformed into icons and representations of the Government both from the Government to the people and in the eyes of some of the people. Symbols are powerful in our society and we have the responsibility of making them and installing them in the locations where they are seen and experienced.
